If you’ve been in and around our site and have tapped into the wellness world you know there are a myriad of nature’s products that are great for you and often times essential. Everyone’s biological makeup is unique and therefore would require certain supplements at certain times. Other occasions might call for healing, restoration or detoxification. For us, knowledge is golden when identifying what you need. But if there is one thing you can regularly consume and will consistently benefit from, it’s coconut water.
Touted globally as a superfood, coconuts (and of course Kale) reigns supreme at Kale and Coco. It is the most versatile of fruits and offers some of the most incredible nutritional benefits nature provides. So you guessed it. We’re in love with the coco.
Praised for being multi-purpose, eating coconuts are excellent for one’s immunity. They are antiviral, anti-fungal, antibacterial, and antiparasitic, killing off harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. When it comes to the coconut water, drinking it can help fill the nutritional gaps lacking in a robust fruit and vegetable diet.
Mostly found in tropical and coconut-rich or remote areas, in the past has even been employed as IV in emergency situations when water was scarce.
Coconut water is truly nature’s gold and it’s something we can’t live without. Here’s why.
It’s undoubtedly:
- Natural, pure and organic
- Refreshing
- Subtly sweet
- Fat and cholesterol free
- Hydrating
- Nutritional powerhouse
- Fun to drink
- Delicious
Coconut water comes from the green young coconut, not to get confused with the smaller, course and mature brown coconut or coconut milk. Over time as the coconut matures it ripens into solid white flesh referred to as the “meat” while some of the juice remains in liquid or water.
Commonly referred to as “nature’s sports drink,” coconut water embodies a multitude of health-promoting benefits. Composed of naturally occurring bioactive enzymes, antioxidants, amino acids, simple sugars, vitamins and the five key electrolytes: sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus.
Not just infamous for a hangover cure, but coconut water contains therapeutic properties such as cytokinins–a hormone that helps plants grow is said to be anticancer and anti-aging. If that’s not enough check out what other benefits drinking mother natures tonic brings you.

Now, it’s been pretty clear there’s been ample hype surrounding coconut water and its wide range of multi-uses but we’re going on the record to say that a coconut water habit is going to do you some good. While it’s not a total substitute for water or vitamins that your body may need, we are saying you should absolutely swap your sugar-laden sports drink for a really refreshing and did we mention, all-natural drink.
We always suggest drinking from a freshly cut open coconut sometimes located in the refrigerated section of a health food store. But if you can’t get to a tropical island anytime soon, the packaged coconut water should do for now.
Happy sippin’.
